Costa del Azahar

North of the Costa Blanca is the Costa del Azahar, literally translated it is the ‘Orange blossom’ Coast. It runs from Benicassim in the north to Chilches in the south, with the city of Castellon in the centre. The towns and countryside are all livened up by the colour and the perfume of the thousands of orange groves that famously cover the area.

Costa del Azahar provides a perfect combination of basic services with complementary attractions, fully-restored monuments and modern facilities.

Main towns in the area are Oropesa, a large town with a beach resort; Vinaros, the historic Benicarlo; the beautiful town of Peniscola, famous for its perfectly preserved medieval centre perched on a rock over the sea; and Benicassim, the largest resort in the northern part of the coast.

This area is popular with Germans and Spanish visitors and Britons are becoming increasingly interested in the area as the property market here is buoyant.

Torreblanca, a modern town of almost 5,000 inhabitants, is situated 36 km to the north of Castellón. It enjoys a very pleasant climate, even in winter, as the coastal mountain range that runs through it stops the penetration of cold winds.

Torrenostra, accessible via a straight road, is an old fishing village with an excellent beach. It is currently being expanded and developed as a tourist and summer holiday resort. It has a beach with fine sand, clean and clear waters and offers all the necessary services and facilities.
